LIVING SHORELINES
Unlike traditional erosion control structures, such as bulkheads or seawalls that focus on deflecting wave energy away from a site and may actually increase erosion, a living shoreline reduces energy onsite and also allows for the continuation of important natural processes that maintain the health of the broader coastal system.
Riprap
Slayden’s is a licensed MD marine contractor that specializes in riprap and living shorelines to prevent erosion. It can be used on any waterway or water containment where there is potential for water erosion. Riprap and living shorelines work by absorbing and deflecting the energy of waves before they reach the shoreline.
Nick Slayden has been in the Shoreline Erosion control business and excavating business for 25 years. After high school Nick began his career in the Shoreline erosion control business constructing new Living Shoreline and Rip-Rap projects throughout the mid shore. Nick started Slaydens Excavating & Hauling LLC to provide erosion control services including New Rip-Rap Projects, New Living Shoreline Projects, repair of existing shoreline projects as well as general excavating and material handling. Slaydens is a licensed Maryland marine Contractor and holds a valid MHIC license as well. You can be sure Nick will see your project through from the bidding process, through the permitting process, and all phases of construction and stabilization.
